| Thallus pale greyish white, thin, smooth, dull. Ascomata conspicuous, black, scattered, sometimes clustered, straight, curved or sinuous, occasionally branched, semi-immersed to sessile, 0.8–2.0 mm long, 0.15–0.30 mm wide, with a thin thalline margin; lips closed. Proper exciple usually laterally carbonised, sometimes almost completely carbonised. Hymenium
80–100 µm thick, not inspersed. Ascospores 8 per ascus, irregularly uniseriate, transversely (5–) 6–8-locular, 15–25 (–30) × 5–8 µm, I+ blue. CHEMISTRY: Norstictic acid. |

| A rather common, corticolous species in Qld, N.S.W. and Tas.; also in the southern U.S.A., the Caribbean, Brazil, New Zealand and Lord Howe Island. | ||
